We are a small team of dedicated people who are constantly learning and improving our dental knowledge and skills to provide our patients with a positive and unique dental experience.
We have been providing quality dental care in a relaxed atmosphere since 1993 and we offer you, our patient, a friendly, comfortable setting, using advanced dental technology, to ensure that your visit to our office is a positive one.
We specialize in Family Dentistry, Emergency Dental Care, Cosmetic Dentistry (teeth whitening or bleaching, porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding), Sedation Dentistry (Nitrous Oxide/ oral sedation ), Oral Surgery (wisdom teeth extractions), Dental Implants, including Mini-Implants, Restorative Dentistry (composite or white fillings, crowns and bridges), Preventative Dentistry (sports mouthguards, dental sealants) and a complete Dental Hygiene program with special emphasis on patient education.

Meet Our Dentists
Dr. Jeff Clark BSc, DDS
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from UNB in 1987 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Dalhousie University in 1992, receiving both clinical and academic awards. After a year as an associate in Saint John, he took over a small dental practice in Grand Bay-Westfield in 1993, growing it into the full-service River Valley Dental. The practice, now located just inside Saint John city limits, offers advanced dental procedures and technology, including digital x-rays, laser treatments, Invisalign, and Zoom teeth whitening. It is one of the few in the area to offer nitrous oxide sedation.
Jeff is dedicated to patient care and has completed numerous continuing education courses in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, oral surgery, and sedation. Professionally, he is active in several dental societies and has held leadership roles, including serving as President of the New Brunswick Dental Society in 2014.
Jeff has also been involved in his community, serving on the boards of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce and Riverside Country Club, and volunteering with BCAPI and Outflow Men’s Shelter. Physically active, he enjoys a variety of sports and outdoor activities. Jeff and his wife Joanne have two grown children, Jamie and Emma, both pursuing graduate degrees.
Dr. Alex Hourihan, DDS
The team at River Valley is happy to welcome Dr. Alex Hourihan.
Dr. Hourihan grew up in Hampton, NB, and attended the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, completing his Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology/Chemistry (Honours Program). He was then accepted into dentistry at University College Cork, in Cork, Ireland in 2020 and has completed his dental degree in May 2024. He is thrilled to be coming back to New Brunswick to practice and looks forward to meeting existing and new patients at River Valley Dental.
In his spare time, Dr. Hourihan enjoys hockey, golf, soccer and staying as active as possible. Most of all, he loves spending time with his friends and family, and he looks forward to living close to his loved ones again after the time spent away at school.
Dr. Hourihan main priority as a new dentist is making the dental office environment feel safe and welcoming to all. Similarly, he stresses staying on the cutting edge of dentistry to provide patients with the most complete treatment possible.
